A warehouse is an area where materials are kept. These could be raw materials or finished goods. SCM has to plan the activities properly. Space optimization is the key. Also, labor is required to process the raw materials, and manufacturing has to be planned meticulously to improve efficiency.

The process is elaborate, starting typically with quality checks against the raw materials, processing and planning the jobs, and scheduling them as per machines and shifts.

The consultant should design dashboards to help SCM manage this. Consultants should look at adding values, for example by creating exception reports. This can help SCM immensely.
