1.2 Research Purpose and Research Questions

This dissertation is intended to identify the relationship between the lives of the elderly and elderly learning by observing and interviewing the elderly in the community schools.I hope to gather specific learning stories in elderly world and to follow the elderly mental world to perceive that social life has brought them both opportunities and challenges.I will explore how the elderly meet these challenges and opportunities,as well as how the elderly learning comes into being and how the elderly maintain their learning motivation.Thus,the study will understand the true purpose and motivation regarding elderly learning to embody the variety of elderly people's ideas about learning.

To do this,certain questions must be asked:What is the force that motivates elderly learning? How does elderly learning influence the lives of the elderly? This dissertation will illustrate the relations between elderly learning and the lives of the elderly based on these two questions to help readers understand the practical status and roles of elderly learning in the lives of the elderly.This not only can provide more positive material for adult learning,but also the material can be based on analysis to explore the elderly group's needs and obstacles in lives and learning.This will help to establish the close relations between the elderly and social support systems of sustainable development regarding elderly learning,promote elderly learning,and provide all-around social support.
