小結

本章介紹了香港不同時段社會時局發展及警政變遷跟女警發展的關係，包括二次大戰後香港需要女性執法人員處理社會動盪及難民湧入所引發的治安問題；同時民間團體對男女平等的推動對政府造成一定壓力，在警隊統一編制及男女同工同酬發展方面有很大影響。在社會大環境的影響下，女警人數節節上升，擔任的工作和崗位不斷擴展，這些女警們也能夠勝任。但在這個發展當中，其實有很多關於女警的政策仍然是十分不平等的。這些不平等的背後，是一套有關男女性別角色的規範，也是對男女天生差異的一些想法和假設。第3章會介紹歷年來警隊中有關女警政策的一些轉變。
