This specification is developed by Sinopec Luoyang Petrochemical Engineering Corporation in cooperation with other involved organizations under the administration of China Petrochemical Corporation（Sinopec Group）based on the requirements of Document Jian Biao〔2005〕No.124 issued by original Ministry of Construction（MOC）-Notice issuing the formulation and modification Plan of National Engineering Construction Standards（2nd Group）in 2005.

In developing this Specification，the development team made extensive investigations and studies on location of detection points and configuration of detection and alarm system as well as indication and alarm devices in the design of combustible gas and toxic gas detection and alarm，summarized the practices in application of combustible gas and toxic gas detection and alarm in petrochemical industry in recent years，referred to advanced technical standards abroad，and reviewed and finalized this specification based upon comments and careful discussions on major issues with organizations involved in engineering design，operation，scientific research，and detector manufacturers.

This specification comprises 6 chapters and 3 appendixes，including general provisions，terms and abbreviations，general requirements，layout of detection points，detection and alarm systems for combustible gases and toxic gases and installation of detectors and detection and alarm devices.

The articles printed in bold type are mandatory and must be enforced strictly.

Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development is in charge of administration of this specification and explanation of its mandatory articles，China Petrochemical Corporation（Sinopec Group）is authorized by the Ministry for its routine management，and Sinopec Luoyang Petrochemical Engineering Corporation is in charge of interpretation for technical contents.
