Prevention and Control Guidelines for Nurs ing Home
During the epidemic period, nursing homes are suggested to implement closed management in principle, prohibiting visitors from outsiders, keeping the residents within the nursing homes, not admitting new residents. Those who have to go out should be closely monitored after coming back.
1.Daily Preventive Measures
1.1 Ensure that the staff and the residents understand relevant knowledge,avoid sharing personal belongings, pay attention to ventilation, and perform the disinfection measures. Health records should be established for the residents and the staff, and morning check-up should be conducted every day.
1.2 Staff with suspicious symptoms should immediately go to hospital for medical examinations and not be allowed to go back to work until suspected 2019-nCoV infection and other infectious diseases have been excluded.
1.3 Establish visitor registration system, and refuse visitors with suspicious symptoms of 2019-nCoV infection. All visitors should wear surgical masks.
1.4 Keep indoor air fresh. Maintain ventilation for at least 30 minutes every half day; mechanical ventilation equipment should be equipped if opening windows is impossible. Pay attention to avoid excessive temperature difference when opening windows in winter.
1.5 Encourage the elderly to wash hands frequently, and keep the environment clean.
1.6 Prepare isolation rooms in case of isolation treatment of the elderly with suspicious symptoms. Those with suspicious symptoms should be isolated in time to avoid infecting other people.
2.The Elderly with Suspicious Symptoms
The elderly with suspicious symptoms should be isolated in time in individual rooms, and his/her health status should be evaluated by medical workers. The patients should be transferred to a medical institution for treatment according to their conditions. All visiting activities should be suspended.
