Embracing Connections

In this chapter Diana’s story provides an illustration of teaching that creates connections at multiple levels. To explain these connections, we introduce the BFK•Connect Framework (referred to as the Connect Framework in this book), which identifies four core dimensions of effective teaching. With these dimensions defined, the framework also provides the ingredients for what might be called “integrative” or “powerful” practice. The Connect Framework is a tool that can help you engage in paradoxical thinking and see new possibilities. As you do, you may find that you are better able to make connections that accelerate learning in your students and in yourself.
