Abstract

Through field work and document study in folklore, the book titled Endless Chegulu Cai: Inheritance of Northeastern Errenzhuan in Rural Society, researches history development and present existence formation of Northeastern Errenzhuan in rural society, and tries to explore its potential developing gateway in future.

First of all, the book discusses occurrence and origin development of Errenzhuan from socio-cultural perspective. Then the book reveals the historical inheritance of Errenzhuan by the route of inheritance, the way of inheritance and social relationship network. On the way of its inheritance, Errenzhuan performing artists mainly develop by area inheritance, family inheritance and mentor inheritance. In contemporary society, inheritance changes from traditional Jianghu mentor inheritance to study class teaching inheritance. Before 1949, Errenzhuan performing artists are regarded as humble professionals. In order to survive at the fringes of the society and improve their art level, they build up a virtual fridge of society-Jianghu and establish their social relationship network. Chapter Four mainly analyzes the way of inheritance of such a huge text content by Errenzhuan performing artists through“Pian”, words and sentences' formula, main tones and sub-tones. Finally, the author discusses modern art form of Errenzhuan, and prospects Errenzhuan's potential future based on the existed research.

Based on the conclusion of main content and opinions of the book, the epilogue puts forward the concept that only by inheritance and development in historical continuation, traditional culture can we demonstrate its existing significance.
