Edna M. Sanderson致函先生，告知哥伦比亚大学图书馆新馆已落成，并感谢先生赠送地毯。

Dear Mr. Yuan:

Ever since the dedication of our new library building, I have been intending to send you the enclosed literature which was distributed at the time of the dedication. I think you will be interested in having a copy of the plans of the various floors, in the program, and in the description of parts of the building that appeared in the Bibliotheca Columbiana. I am sorry the Library School was not given some consideration, but perhaps when Dr. Williamson returns to his desk, he will prepare something that we can distribute to the alumni.

The beautiful rug, which you were so instrumental in securing for us, adds a great deal to our social room which is one of our prize rooms, we think. I hope that some other important conference or assembly will bring you to this country again before long and that we shall have the opportunity of showing you about personally.

We all hope your tour last year in this country and in Europe was very successful and pleasant, and that you returned to your work in Peiping with renewed interest and very much refreshed.

下午一时，北平市图书馆协会假师范大学图书馆召开年度第一次常会。先生、李文、田洪都、洪有丰、何日章、邓衍林、严文郁、吴鸿志、于震寰、黄向文、瞿凤鸾、施廷镛、丁濬、顾宝延等二十余人与会。李文为会议主席，洪有丰、先生先后演说。先生的发言涉及三个方面：一为阅览人互助精神，二为书籍陈列以实用为上，三为馆员终身为事业学习。最后，举行改选，先生、田洪都、洪有丰、何日章、邓衍林、严文郁、李文当选为执行委员，吴鸿志、于震寰、黄向文、瞿凤鸾、施廷镛、丁濬为监察委员。〔《华北日报》，1935年1月7日，第9版；《中华图书馆协会会报》第10卷第4期，1935年2月28日，页22〕

上午十时，旧都文物整理委员会举行成立大会，委员长黄郛，当然委员于学忠、宋子文、袁良、罗耀枢（内政部）、殷同（铁道部）、沈兼士（教育部）、丁春膏（财政部）、马衡（中央古物保委会），委员朱启钤、朱深、程克、翁文灏、先生、陈汉第、周作民等人出席。黄郛为会议主席，秘书夏清贻记录。开会后，各委员就主席提交各案、涉及本会议事规则、执行手续、组织保管款项委员会等案，一一讨论通过，至十二时许始毕，会后午餐。〔《申报》，1935年1月12日，第7版〕

按：旧都文物整理委员会负责北平地区文物建筑的修缮。朱深（1880—？），字博渊，河北永清人，日本东京帝国大学法学毕业，曾任京师高等检察厅检察长；程克（1878—？），字仲渔，河南开封人，日本东京帝国大学法学毕业，曾任司法总长。另，委员方觉慧因在外，未能出席。

先生受邀赴天津工商学院演讲，题为“现代之图书馆”。〔《大公报》（天津），1935年1月12日，第4版〕

按：Giuseppe Gabrieli（1872-1942），意大利图书馆学家，时应为Accademia dei Lincei图书馆馆长。Johannes Schreck（1576-1630），德籍耶稣会士，中文名邓玉函，1618年随金尼阁等人自里斯本启程，翌年7月抵达澳门，著有《远西奇器图说》。

先生致信黄炎培，谈《夷氛闻记》出版事宜。

任之先生左右：

三年前为刊印《夷氛闻记》曾奉手教，诸承赞助，无任欣感。此书敝馆原拟校印公诸世人，近以经费所限，一时无法办理。尊处倘愿刊印，订有确实办法，敝馆自当借给，至与赵竹老藏本互校一节，亦关重要。夙谂台端事务甚繁，本不敢以此琐琐奉累，惟能自校必可精绝莫伦。如何之处，乞察复为幸。专此，顺候台祺。

下午二时，故宫博物院召开第四次院务会议临时会议，马衡、徐森玉、沈兼士、先生、张庭济、叶澜、赵儒珍、庄尚严、邵锐、何澄一、黄鹏霄、黄念劬（王承吉代）、虞和寅、王孝缙、陆绍宣等人出席。除主席报告事项外，还讨论诸多事项，其中第一项为先生以全部薪水捐充本院奖学金，并拟简章草案。决议：“袁馆长捐薪奖学，同人均极钦佩，所提草案原则通过。详细办法，由院长与袁馆长商定。”〔《马衡年谱长编》，页565-566〕

按：是年6月30日，马衡院长签发国立北平故宫博物院“布字第40号”院令，公布《国立北平故宫博物院奖学金简章》。(2)该简章规定，奖学金分设甲、乙两种，甲种奖学金每年2名，每名金额为1400元，特别资助在国外大学从事博物院管理法、考古学和美术史研究的自费贫困生；乙种奖学金每年10名，每名金额200元，奖励在古物、图书或文献方面有研究成果的故宫博物院职员。张庭济，字柱中，浙江平湖人，北京大学英文门毕业，长期担任故宫博物院总务处处长。叶澜，字清伊，浙江杭州人，时任马衡院长的秘书。赵儒珍，字席慈，江苏镇江人，亦为故宫博物院院长秘书。邵锐，字茗生，浙江杭州人，时任古物馆第二科科长。何澄一，字澄意，广东中山人，时任图书馆第一科代理科长兼第二科代理科长。黄鹏霄，字鹏笑，广东新会人，时任文献馆第一科代理科长。黄念劬，江西都昌人，时任总务处第一科科长、驻南京办事处主任。王承吉，字贞吉，浙江长兴人，时任总务处第一科帮办科务科员。虞和寅，字自畏，浙江镇海人，时任总务处第二科科长。王孝缙，字筱晋，福建闽侯人，时任总务处第三科科长。陆绍宣，字季馨，浙江杭州人，时任总务处第四科科员。(3)

Dear Dr. Keogh:

At a recent meeting of the Executive Committee of the Library Association of China, a resolution was unanimously adopted that the Association extends you a cordial invitation to visit China in 1935 to conduct a survey of Chinese libraries and to assist us in devising ways and means for their further development.

In adopting the above resolution, the Executive Committee feels confident that through your rich and long years'experience in library administration, you will be able to give us your expert advice and assistance. Your collaboration will no doubt make a most significant contribution to Sino-American cultural relations.

The Library Association of China was founded in 1925 and was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Arthur E. Bostwick, the Official Delegate of the American Library Association. In celebrating its ten years'anniversary, the Library Association of China has decided to hold an annual conference at Nanking and has authorized me to arrange with you for your presence at this conference. The conference will therefore be held at the time of your visit; and for this reason, the Committee would like to know as soon as possible the definite date of your arrival as well as the length of your stay, in order to make necessary plans for the Conference.

The Committee will arrange an itinerary for your visit and will provide you with an interpreter. Meanwhile the Committee will collect data and information concerning libraries in China in order to facilitate your investigations.

It is our earnest hope that in spite of your heavy responsibilities at home you will be able to plan a trip to China in 1935, in order that we may have the pleasure of welcoming you in connection with the celebration of the ten years'anniversary of our Association.

《海潮音》刊登《发行宋藏遗珍缘起》，朱庆澜、蒋维乔、欧阳渐、先生、叶恭绰、徐乃昌、徐文霨、周叔迦共同署名。〔《海潮音》第16卷第1期，1935年1月15日〕

按：该文前有“影印宋藏遗珍发行预约广告”，后附“宋藏遗珍目录（上集二十六种一百三十六卷）”“发行宋藏遗珍预约办法”。“宋藏遗珍”即山西赵城广胜寺所藏宋金卷轴式藏经，全套预计一百四十册，用中国手工制上等连史纸照相影印，定价八十圆，预约一次交付六十圆，至本年三月底截止。《海潮音》由该社编辑发行，汉口印书馆承印。
