Chapter 3. So Much to Manage
With all this information and critical decisions being made based on this information, there must be an organized way to store and manage it. It is not as simple as placing all the documents into a folder structure on the F:\
drive. There are many different types of documents that require different responses, security, and accountability. You can't treat a simple bulletin as you would a change order or contract. The change order has monetary and legal ramifications. If for some reason it slipped through the cracks it would potentially have much more impact against the project than a bulletin. When information comes into a project, the type of document must be determined to follow the proper workflow for storage and action. There is a set list of modules within PCM, which can be configured for the organization to hold and manage the various documents.
