Energy management (EMAN)
Project type: Main
EMAN provides an energy management plugin for ODL. It's an energy management abstraction. It communicates with network switches and other equipment via southbound protocols and drives energy management parameters and protocols or standards. Remember that networking gears support energy management, fan speed, and reporting back energy utilization in different periods and intervals.
EMAN also provides a northbound interface for SDN applications and other external applications to interact with energy management of devices within the particular ODL SDN domain.
The information model is inherited from the SCTE 216 standard Adaptive Power Systems Interface Specification (APSIS), which in turn inherits definitions within the IETF EMAN document set.
