Assigning a host template to a device

You already assigned a device template to a device in Chapter 2, Using Graphs to Monitor Networks and Devices, so now let's briefly talk about what is happening when a device template gets assigned to a device.

As you know, device templates are a collection of graphs and data queries. In contrast to Cacti 0.8, the new Cacti 1.0 version stores the link between a device template and its associated devices. This allows you to sync any changes you have made to a device template to its associated devices, reducing the administrative effort significantly when dealing with a lot of devices.
