User types
Before creating permission sets, you need to know exactly what the user requirement is. Identifying and knowing user requirements helps you to create an efficient process that meets the requirements of your team.
There are the following two basic categories of user:
- Users: They only require to view data, insights, lenses, dashboards, and occasionally import data
- Administrators or managers: They require full access to Analytics to create datasets, lenses, visualizations, dashboards, and so on
Accordingly, you should create the following two basic permission sets:
- View: This permission set contains the permissions needed by most basic-level users when they access Analytics.
- Manage: This permission set has all rights. This permission set should be assigned to managers and system administrators who require complete access to Einstein Analytics. A user with manager permission can have access to all datasets and rights in Einstein Analytics.
You can define your own user types depending upon organization requirements as follows:
- A superuser having full access
- A data import master having data import permissions only
- A view-only user having view permissions only
- A moderate user having permissions for both data import and view
Here, we are creating only two permission sets.
