Downloading the software

The Elastic software can be downloaded from https://elastic.co/guide. In this book, we'll use version 6.5, which is the latest version at the time of writing. Obviously, it is possible that a more recent version may exist by the time you are reading this book—keep that in mind. Software can change quickly! 

To download Elasticsearch, browse https://www.elastic.co/downloads/elasticsearch, and choose the appropriate download distribution. Do the same for Kibana at https://www.elastic.co/downloads/kibana.

Once downloaded, we are ready to begin the installation process.
