Disaster recovery

There's no escaping from it—disasters happen, whether it's natural or human error. What counts is how well-prepared we are for them, and how fast and efficiently we can recover.

Implementing disaster recovery protocols is of utmost importance for business continuity. There are two terms that we need to understand before proceeding: recovery time objective (RTOand recovery point objective (RPO). Let's take a quick glance at each. RTO is the time it takes to recover from a failure or event that causes a disruption. Put simply, it refers to how fast we can get the application back up. RPO, on the other hand, refers to how far the data can go back in time without affecting business continuity, that is, how much data you can lose.
