Geng Yan was a student who had always wanted to become a brave soldier.When he was young he studied hard and learnt war tactics.One day Geng Yan heard the King was recruiting an army to fight in a war.Geng Yan immediately joined and had won many victories.The King favored Geng Yan for this and made him the general of the army.In Shandong Province there was an opposing army of the King，the leader was Zhang Bu.The King sent Geng Yan to defeat Zhang Bu.Unfortunately Zhang Bu's men outnumbered Geng Yan's army.In the war Geng Yan was injured but still fought even when his men pledged him to rest.When the King heard Geng Yan was experiencing trouble，he decided to lead an army himself to aid Geng Yan．When Geng Yan's men heard this they were happily suggesting to retreat until the King arrived．Geng Yan refused to do so as he felt he should complete his duty and welcome the King with victory．His men agreed and felt ashamed．Geng Yan continued to lead his army；eventually they won the battle.When the King arrived he praised Geng Yah saying“Where there is a will there is way.”This means when you have decided upon something，you should be determined and insist on your thoughts regardless of difficulties.Your willpower will bring success.
