7.4 Belt Conveyor
7.4.1 The off-site belt conveyor shall be designed in accordance with the following requirements:
1 If coal mines are densely distributed and not far away from the power plant,off-site belt conveyor may be used for coal transportation. If coal mines are far away from the power plant thus complicating the conditions, the necessity for the application of belt conveyor shall be determined through technical and economical comparison.
2 The construction scale of off-site belt conveyor should be determined according to coal consumption for planning capacity of the fossil fired power plant and the principle that the units are installed in phases.
3 When the fossil fired power plant is provided with coal storage facilities whose capacity is no less than five days of coal consumption by corresponding units,off-site belt conveyor should be arranged into single line.
4 If no coal storage facility is provided in the area of fossil fired power plant, the belt conveyor starting from off-site coal storage facilities to the power plant shall be regarded as a part of the in-plant coal handling system that delivers coal to the boiler house. The off-site belt conveyor shall have the same output as that of the in-plant coal handling system, and shall be arranged into dual lines, one in service and the other on standby.Despite this,it shall be possible for the dual lines to be put into service synchronously.
7.4.2 The in-plant belt conveyor shall be designed in accordance with the following requirements:
1 The output of belt conveyor from the unloading facilities to coal storage facilities shall match with that of the coal unloader. The belt conveyor may be arranged into either single or dual lines according to the type and quantity of coal unloader.
2 The output of belt conveyor from the coal storage facilities to the coal supplying system serving the boiler house shall not be less than 135%of coal consumption of the corresponding units when operating on design coal and check coal under MCR conditions, whichever is greater.
3 When the coal supplying unit entering the boiler house is arranged separately, the belt conveyor to the coal supplying system shall be arranged into dual lines, one in service and one on standby.Despite this,it shall also be possible for the dual lines to be put into service synchronously. When there are two coal supplying units, the two coal supplying units may share one standby system if conditions permit.
7.4.3 For belt conveyors that deliver coal upwards, their inclination angle should be less than 16°and shall not be larger than 18°.
7.4.4 The belt conveyors may be in form of enclosed,open,semi-enclosed or balloon enclosed type, depending upon the local metrological conditions. If belt conveyors are arranged on open trestles, they shall be provided with protection guard.
7.4.5 If coal is conveyed over a long distance and the arrangement in the plant area is complicated, pipe conveyor or curved belt conveyor with horizontal turnings may be adopted.
7.4.6 If ordinary belt conveyor cannot be used due to limitation of arrangement conditions and other reasons, vertical lifting belt conveyor may be adopted.
