texture 1. n. The texture of something is the way that it feels when you touch it, for example, how smooth or rough it is.手感·It is used in moisturizers to give them a wonderfully silky texture. // 2. n. The texture of something, especially food or soil, is its structure, for example, whether it is light with lots of holes, or very heavy and solid.(尤指食品、土壤等的)结构· Matured over 18 months, this cheese has an open, crumbly texture with a strong flavor.

concerned 1. adj.If you are concerned to do anything,you want to do it because you think it is important.想(做某事)的·We are deeply concerned to get out of this problematic situation. //2. adj.involved in something or affected by it 关联到,受……的影响·Divorce is very painful, especially when children are concerned.

dodge 1. vi.If you dodge,you move suddenly,often to avoid being hit,caught,or seen.躲闪· I dodged back into the alley and waited a minute. // 2. vt. If you dodge anything, you avoid it by quickly moving aside or out of reach so that it cannot hit or reach you.闪开·He desperately dodged a speeding car trying to run him down. // 3. vt.If you dodge anything, you deliberately avoid thinking about it or dealing with it, often by being deceitful.逃避· He boasts of dodging military service by feigning illness.

mandatory adj.If an action or procedure is mandatory,people have to do it,because it is a rule or a law.法定的·The company's mandatory retirement age is 65.

chatter vi.If you chatter,you talk quickly and continuously,usually about the things which are not important.喋喋不休地说(不重要的事)· Everyone's chattering away in different languages.

chap n. A chap is a man or boy.男人;小伙·“I am a very lucky chap, ” he commented.“The doctors were surprised that I was not paralysed.”

pirate 1. n. Pirates are the sailors who attack other ships and steal property from them.海盗· In the nineteenth century, pirates roamed the seas. // 2. vt.Someone who pirates CDs, DVDs, books, or computer programs copies and sells them when they have no right to do so.盗版·Computer crimes include data theft and pirating software.

preach 1. vt./vi.When a member of the clergy preaches a sermon, he or she gives a talk on a religious or moral subject during a religious service.布(道);布道·The bishop preached to a crowd of several hundred local people. // 2. vt./vi.When people preach a belief or a course of action, they try to persuade other people to accept the belief or to take the course of action.宣扬·Health experts are now preaching that even a little exercise is far better than none at all.

release 1. vt.If a person or animal is released from anywhere where they have been locked up or cared for, they are set free or allowed to go.放走·He was released from custody the next day. // 2. vt.If anyone or anything releases you from a duty,task,or feeling,they free you from it.解除·Divorce releases both the husband and wife from all marital obligations to each other. // 3. vt.To release feelings or abilities means to allow them to be expressed.释放·Becoming your own person releases your creativity.

nostalgic adj.Nostalgic things cause you to think affectionately about the past.引起怀旧的· Although we still depict nostalgic snow scenes on Christmas cards, winters are now very much warmer.

timber n. Timber is the wood that is used for building houses and making furniture. You can also refer to the trees that grow for this purpose as timber.木材·These Michigan woods have been exploited for timber since the Great Fire of Chicago.

obstinate adj.If you describe anyone as obstinate,you are being critical of them because they are very determined to do what they want, and refuse to change their mind or be persuaded to do something else.固执的·He is obstinate and determined and will not give up.

ungrounded adj.unwarranted,baseless 无扎实基础的;无根据的;无稽的·The comments that Obama is now “fully resourcing” the war in South Asia are completely ungrounded.

fantasy 1. n. A fantasy is a pleasant situation or event that you think about and that you want to happen, especially the one that is unlikely to happen.幻想·Young children sometimes can't distinguish between fantasy and reality. // 2. n. You can refer to a story or situation that someone creates from their imagination and that is not based on reality as fantasy.虚幻的故事;幻想的情境·The film is more of an ironic fantasy than a horror story.

intermittent adj.Something that is intermittent happens occasionally rather than continuously.断断续续的·After three hours of intermittent rain, the game was abandoned.

skim 1. vt.If you skim anything from the surface of a liquid,you remove it.撇去(液体表面的浮物)· Rough seas today prevented specially equipped ships from skimming oil off the water's surface. // 2. vt./vi.If anything skims a surface,it moves quickly along just above it.掠过·He threw a flat stone and watched it skim the surface of the lake. // 3. vt./vi.If you skim a piece of writing, you read through it quickly.略读;浏览·He skimmed the pages quickly, and then read them again more carefully.

premium 1. n. A premium is a sum of money that you pay regularly to an insurance company for an insurance policy.保险费·It is too early to say whether insurance premiums will be affected. // 2. n. A premium is a sum of money that you have to pay for something in addition to the normal cost.附加费·Even if customers want “solutions, ” most are not willing to pay a premium for them. // 3. adj.Premium products are of higher quality than usual and are often expensive.高端的·At the premium end of the market, business is booming.

enhance vt.To enhance something means to improve its value,quality,or attractiveness.提高·The White House is eager to protect and enhance that reputation.
