Caught by Rain (to the tune of Ding Feng Bo)
by Su Shi (1037 - 1101)
Don't bother about the rattling of raindrops on the
foliage,
Let's sing and stroll along leisurely.
With a bamboo cane and a pair of sandals,
I'm equipped lighter than a horse-rider.
What to fear for one?
Who's used to going through mists and storms in a straw cape.
The cutting cold of early spring sobers me up.
Chilly indeed! But the sun at the hill-top,
Welcomes me with its warmth.
Looking back at where I shivered,
I hear a whisper: go home!
Where there is neither rain nor shine.
