As we enter an era with booming economy boosted by the rapid advancement of science and technology, more and more corporations and stores are highly understaffed. For this reason, some of them have opened up their companies to adolescents and offer them part-time jobs with salary. As a result, this action has caused a heated discussion over whether adolescents from 16-19 should be allowed to have part-time jobs. Personally, I tend to believe that it is beneficial for youngsters to have a part-time job for the following reasons.

First of all, by taking a job, young people can appreciate the value of money more deeply and first-handedly because they have experienced how hard it is to make money. Imagine that you worked head over heels for eight hours a day, 22 days a month, only to end up making a few hundred RMB. The next time you are thinking about spending a few hundred RMB on a new headphone or a new pair of shoes, I am fairly certain that you will hesitate and ponder more over your decision. In addition, parents should support their adolescents to get a job because soon the young individuals will be going to college and be free of parents' supervision. If parents don't want their children to squander money, they should educate children on the value of money, and what other ways are there to do so than to have children get a part-time job and discover it by children themselves?

Second of all, for those who have rarely encountered any major academic obstacles, this could be an excellent opportunity for them to experience what it feels like to make every effort to get something they really want. More specifically, they would have to work hard in order to buy something they desire, such as a new smart phone or a new overcoat. The value of this process lies in trying one's best to achieve something, which can be vital to their future professional career. Take me as an example. I have never really had a driving force propelling me to work towards anything until I suddenly became enchanted by tennis. As I found out that one hour of tennis course costs 300 RMB, my mother suggested that I looked for a part-time job to pay for my own classes. As I worked for a month tutoring other prospective students at an online institution, I have finally earned enough money for a month of tennis lessons. Till this day I cannot forget how gratifying it was to pay for those lessons with the money I made myself, and I will always remember how driven I was when I worked part-time.

Admittedly, taking a job will inevitably occupy a certain amount of time dedicated to studying. However, instead of considering this a negative aspect, I consider this to be an opportunity for personal growth. More specifically, with a portion of their studying time occupied, teenagers will have to study more efficiently in order to maintain their academic records. As a result, they would end up with a work experience, some extra pocket money, and a better version of themselves that are better learners, just as the saying goes: hitting three birds with one stone.

In a nutshell, I deem it incredibly beneficial for teenagers to take a part-time job and recommend that parents allow them to do so as it might yield unexpected fruit.
