4 Education in Longquan

After the headquarters of Zhejiang University moved to western China, for reasons concerning transportation and economy, more and more students were unable to pursue further studies in inland universities, mainly those high school graduates of Zhejiang Province and young students from Fujian, Anhui, Jiangxi and Shanghai. With approval from Ministry of Education, Zhejiang University set up a branch campus in Longquan in July 1939, Zhejiang with five Colleges of Liberal Arts, Sciences, Engineering, Agriculture and Normal Education.
