CHAPTER 3 MODEL STUDENT
After helping with the household chores, Keong had little time at night. So, he studied all the time he had. He skipped games to spend more time studying. His UPSR examination was at the end of the year.
He followed a timetable to study. Every night, he had to study four hours. That was from seven o'clock till bedtime. He had no time to watch television or play computer games.
His friends warned him about “All work makes Jack a dull boy.” But, he just laughed it off.
He had eight subjects to study for his examination. By studying four hours a night, he could finish his revision. On weekends, he had to study another four hours. That would be studying eight hours on Saturday and Sunday.

His mother saw the way he studied till late at night. Sometimes, she worried he might be overdoing it.
She often said, “Son, you need to take a break. Go and play badminton, your favourite game.” But, to Keong, studies came first.
His teachers were pleased with his performance. He took the trouble to do his homework well. He scored in all his monthly tests.
No wonder, his teachers always used him as an example in class to their pupils. It was common for them to say, “Why can't you all study hard like Keong? ”
He always passed his tests with flying colours. In class, he was well prepared for the lessons. So, he could answer the teacher's questions.
Keong was not only hardworking in his studies. He was also humble and friendly. He always greeted his teachers and classmates. Always smiling, he called out in his cheerful voice, “Good morning, Teacher.” or “Hello, John. How are you today? ”
His friendly and polite manners made him very popular in his school. His classmates, boys and girls, liked to go to the canteen with him.
The girls would ask for his advice on studies or doing homework. All of them found him pleasant and helpful.
