Japan, Kyoto 日本京都
Kyoto served as Japan's capital and the emperor's residence from 794 until 1868. It is now the country's seventh largest city. It is now the capital of Kyoto Prefecture, as well as a major part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area. Over the centuries, Kyoto was destroyed by many wars and fires. In Kyoto, there are countless temples, shrines and other historically priceless structures survive in the city today. With temples, parks, bustling business districts, markets, from regal estates to the tightly-packed neighborhoods, Kyoto is one of the oldest and most famous Asian metropolises.
