Hokkaido, formerly known as Ezo, is Japan's second largest island; it is also the largest and northernmost of Japan's 47 prefectures. The largest city on Hokkaido is its capital, Sapporo, which is also its only ordinance-designated city. Its weather is harsh in winter with lots of snowfall, below zero temperatures and frozen seas, while in summer it does not get as hot and humid as in the other parts of the country. In addition, with its unspoiled nature, Hokkaido attracts many outdoor lovers, including skiers and snowboarders in the colder seasons and hikers, cyclists and campers from June to September.

Visit Akan National Park 参观阿寒国立公园

Located in eastern Hokkaido, Akan National Park is well known for its three beautiful lakes: Lake Akan, Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo. Although often covered by fog, its waters are some of the clearest in the world.

阿寒国立公园位于北海道东端，以阿寒湖、屈斜路湖和摩周湖这三个美丽的火山湖而著名。尽管公园经常被浓雾笼罩，但是湖里的水非常清澈，算得上是世界上最清澈的水。

Furano and Biei are towns in the center of Hokkaido, known for their pleasant and picturesque rural landscapes. The best time to visit the two place is July, when the lavender fields are in bloom.

Best Time to Visit 最佳旅游季节

The best season to visit Hokkaido is early summer and mid-summer. However, recently the number of tourists has been increasing even in winter season because there are many attractive activities such as the events related to snow and ice, various kinds of snow sports, sightseeing for drift ice, and so on. The number of tourists decreases around the snow melting season which is from late Mar. to early Apr., and in Nov. which is the end of yellow leaf season and just prior to snow fall.

Getting There 抵达方法

The most common way for international tourists to travel to Hokkaido is to fly into New Chitose Airport (Sapporo). This is the closest airport to the very popular Niseko ski resort. If you want to go to the ski resorts further north such as Kamui Links, Furano or Asahidake, the ideal access point is Asahikawa airport. Another gateway airport is Obihiro airport, which provides easy access to Tomamu and Sahoro ski resorts.
