The industry grows so fast that most consumers have been dependent greatly to the online platforms before they could realize. If anyone would ask me the question what part the online shopping plays in my life, I have to say that it is an indispensable part of my life.

Then what contributes to its overwhelming success? The decisive winning factor derives from the advanced network, which makes it possible for people in every corner of China to get the knowledge of the latest goods at the same time. It surmounts the information gap between metropolises and small villages and enables billions of people to browse the same webpage through the same platform. What’s more, the online shopping platforms offer almost all the products available on market with more competitive prices. Taking into consideration that it can spare consumers the time, money and energy of transportation, I can’t even find the online shopping a rival now. Thanks to online shopping, I start to enjoy the life in a globalized world.

We do owe much to one of the greatest inventions in the new era—online shopping. For most of us, it’s almost horrifying to imagine a life back to the last century. However, never a rose without a prick, online shopping still needs improvements.

To begin with, fraud and deception on customers could be more easily committed by online stores than entity stores where customers could check the goods in person before payments. When you shop online, all the judgments stem from the websites. These flowery words and bewildering pictures will confuse you and every purchase online seems like a lottery draw. We hope stricter supervision and more effective regulations could be carried out to restrain the online store owners. On the other hand, the after-sales service could barely meet the needs of customers, especially when the products are too delicate or too big to send back for repair. As for this, the manufacturers may step forward to cooperate with the online stores to take over the after-sales service.

With the efforts of all parties, online shopping will serve us better in the future.

Take a look around, you may notice that a great many corner stores are out of business, because whatever they sell, customers could always find a cheaper one through online platforms.

Candidate B: Right, the price war is what drives most entity stores out of market. The rents and management cost of them are much higher than the cost of running a business online. What’s more, the express services are so awesome that we can order whatever we like online today and receive the package soon. I think the entity stores will disappear in the future.

Candidate A: To some extent, it’s possible. The stores that stick to the established way will be phased out. But other entity stores will survive in a different way. For instance, the Suning, which used to run chain stores only, started its online business “Suning E-commerce” which has turned out to be a big success. Suning combines the merits of entity stores and online selling—its online stores and entity stores share the same warehousing and logistics. You know the news?

Candidate B: Yes, and I read about a similar piece of news that Amazon, the largest online platform in America, opened a physical store “Amazon Go” last year, which employed the online shopping process.

Candidate A: Wow, I hope this kind of physical stores could be set up here in China, too.

When most developed countries are stuck with their credit card system which was once the leading payment system, China has implemented the electronic payment system for all citizens. We are on the way to a cashless society. Since the e-payment, unlike the credit cards, skips the banks, it is simpler and more feasible. You just need a smart phone with an app of the third-party payment platforms like Alipay or WeChat Pay to make all your payments.

In the long run cashless payment is definitely the future. And the idea of a cashless society goes far beyond paying our meals or movie tickets. Right now, we can also use online payment platforms to pay for running water, electricity and gas through the company or government websites. And the official ticket selling systems has employed the most popular e-payment platforms already. We can book a railway ticket by Alipay, and most of long-distance bus tickets through WeChat.
