The EU-China Information Society Project
The European Commission and the government of the People's Republic of China have established long-standing and sustainable relations on the issues of Information Society. The Information Society Dialogue was established in 1997 and since then has provided an annual opportunity to discuss common challenges and opportunities on a high policy level.
The EU-China Information Society Project was established in 2005 as a 4-year project with the clear aim of fostering information exchange on solutions and strategies to tackle the challenges that the 21st Century digital society poses.Europe's overarching i2010 strategy as well as specific policy areas under the headlines of e-commerce, e-government and convergence are the subjects of this exchange.European and Chinese experts work together to improve mutual understanding about best practice strategies, regional particularities, and suitable implementation efforts. We believe this form of cooperation on an expert level will help not only to foster the development of policy solutions with both partners, but will also help to create a better understanding on both sides about the respective ways of policy-making and implementation that will further deepen the relationship between the EU and China.
